HI Mayne – I enjoy your epistles from Phuoc Tuy thanks. Keep them coming.

This time I am moved to reply to your queries, in case no-one else has. And, any readers, please feel free to join in the discussion.

We do want to get the rock back and I have a sponsor who will dig it out and ship it home in a container. I am working on the permissions in the next month or two. 161 Bty have a spot put aside for it.

On the other queries, let me float my ideas, taken from discussions here.

The concrete hole is the dug in tele exchange which was beside the orderly room. I cannot remember the grave there though from 1966/67, but there were plenty of those around anyway.

That is the bty centre block – we might just get that home too. However, where it now sits is not where I recall bty centre was. Looking at your photo my guess is that when they bulldozed the place over to plant the new rubber, they bulldozed the bty centre out of the ground and that is where it ended up.

I have attached an aerial shot of the bty in the wet, to give you an idea of layout. Bty centre is of course in the centre of the gun layout between 3 & 4. The orderly room is centre, hard right at about 1330 from the larger lysaught bldg. The picture is about Aug/Sep 1966

Cheers
