I was talking to Bruce, a neighbour who is also a veteran, about our gold cards. I received my Veterans Gold Card a few weeks ago and Bruce asked if mine was endorsed with ‘CSC’, meaning it qualified me to benefits of the Community Service Card. It does not so he gave me a number to call. This connected me to the Veterans Pension Section of the Ministry of Social Development. I said I needed to have my card endorsed and the person said they would send me an application form for a new card which would be suitably endorsed.

The number is: 0800 650 656.

This extra benefit has come in as a result of the changes to the Act that came into effect last December. It has nothing to do with one’s income and applies to all veterans. Before calling vets should have their current card with them as it has their MSD number on the reverse.
