Kapiti Vietnam Veterans

Hi all…..

On the 50th anniversary of the first New Zealand combat troops going to Vietnam, the RSA’s Commemorative & Ceremonial Sub Committee confirmed today a Vietnam Veterans Day Service will be held at 1100, Memorial Arch, Tutaneikai Street, on Tuesday 18 August 2015.

We hope very much you will be able to attend and that veterans from other neighbouring centres can join us

It’s 50 years since the first artillery unit was sent to Vietnam, famously sending the “First Gun Ready’ signal back to Wellington on 15 July 1965, with army, air force, SAS, naval, and medical personnel making up New Zealand’s contribution through to withdrawal from Vietnam in 1971.

Join us to remember – and if you know any Vietnam veterans who aren’t on our list please invite them to join us and give their names and email addresses to Margaret for future reference.

The parade commander will be Roger Newth and our RSA Chaplain, the Rev David Bahler, will conduct the short service.

An after-match function will be held at the Kapiti Club on Marine Parade, Paraparaumu Beach.

Regards

Chris Turver
