Roger Newth

Born: 9 November 1939 at Palmerston North

Schooling: Foxton Primary School 1944 -1950, Richmond Road School 1951-1952, Seddon Memorial Technical College 1953-54, RF Cadet School 1956.

Military Service: N37364 Major & Quartermaster RNZA. Enlisted 17 Jan 1956 and retired 25 Aug 1981 as Capt & QM. Re-enlisted 10 Jan 83 and retired 9 Nov 1989. Served in various camps in NZ, mostly at Waiouru. Served with 1 RNZIR as a Platoon Sergeant from March 63 – Apr 65 at Burnham and then in Terendak Camp Malaysia Nov 63- Apr 65.

Served with 161 Bty as BC’s Survey Sergeant 22 Jan 67 – 31 Jan 68 in Vietnam

After retirement worked for IBM at Petone for 12 months and then with Armourguard as an Armoured Car Officer for 11 years retiring fully in March 2003.

Am a Voluntary Driver for the Cancer Society and Kapiti Carers from Paraparaumu.

Am currently President of the Horowhenua Artillery assn, Horowhenua Branch of the King’s Empire Veterans and President of Paraparaumu RSA. Am also Curator of the Museum of Aviation at Paraparaumu Airport and the National Secretary Treasurer of the Regular Force Cadet Assn.

I march along Paraparaumu Beach for exercise as often as I can.
